Our employment attorneys have extensive experience litigating individual and class action cases in federal and state courts and representing clients in administrative proceedings in wage & hour, breach of contract, wrongful termination, discrimination and sexual harassment matters.  We also negotiate and prepare executive compensation agreements and severance agreements as well as advise clients on non-compete and trade secret issues.  In addition, we advise corporate employers on all aspects of employee management – from hiring, discipline and termination to wage & hour and leave policies.  Our work in employment counseling encourages clients to be proactive in identifying and handling employee issues early on, thereby reducing the prospect of litigation.

Representing clients in state and federal employment cases, our attorneys have handled cases in the following areas:

  • Defended all clients of a national Professional Employer Organization in employment matters in California, Texas, Idaho and Washington.  This representation consisted of obtaining dismissals of all 12 race and age EEOC discrimination charges brought against a single worksource agency in Texas.
  • Successful defense of a discrimination claim against a Washington power company
  • Successful defense of two federal age discrimination cases in Houston, Texas against a provider of software and strategic consulting for energy trading in North America and Europe.
  • Successfully defended wage and hour class actions brought against such diverse businesses as restaurant chains, a music and pop culture merchandising company, a grocery chain, a carpet installation company and a jewelry manufacturer.
  • Defended numerous wage and hour actions and Division of Labor Standards Enforcement audits on behalf of a wide range of businesses, including construction companies, a coffee store chain; landscaping firms and a local restaurant chain.
  • Defended a national bank in a multiple-plaintiff wrongful termination action.
  • Successfully prosecuted a misappropriation of trade secrets action against a former employee of a global concierge services company and his new employer.
  • Successfully defended a sports agent in a misappropriation of trade secrets case brought by his former employer.
  • Defended a global provider of interactive virtual software in a wrongful termination action brought by its founding CEO.
  • Successfully defended sexual harassment claims against a bank executive, a store manager of a national restaurant chain, a branding company executive, a national semiconductor employee and a vice president of a Fortune 500 software company.
  • Successfully defended several start-up and several corporate employers in wage and hour matters before the State Labor Commissioner.
  • Prevailed on discrimination claim on behalf of national hospital chain before the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights.
